First Research Canadian Industry Profile

The Canadian grain farming industry includes about 8,900 farms that grow wheat and 6,600 farms that grow corn with combined annual revenue of about $8.2 billion. Among oilseed and grain crops in Canada, wheat trails only canola in value. Corn is the fourth most valuable crop, after soybeans.

Producers of sweet corn, a vegetable, are not included in this industry profile. Other grains, such as barley, oats, and rye, also are not included.
